A Faith to Call Our Own: Quaker Tradition in the Light of Contemporary Movements of the Spirit (Swarthmore Lecture)

What is the experience at the heart of Quaker faith, and how can we speak of it in this 'post-Christian' age? Can we be faithful to our personal experience of the numinous and bring this into meeting for worship and our living tradition? Are we open to old light as well as hew?

This book provides fresh insights on early friends and meeting for worship today, through a striking personal journey from institutional Christianity into feminism, therapy and 'green' spirituality, arriving at a re-visioning of our Quaker faith.

Whatever your spiritual experience and religious understanding, you should find something here to challenge and excite you.

Alex Wildwood attended a Quaker prep school in the early 1960s and twenty years later he found himself in a Quaker-inspired intentional community. He has been a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for the last eleven years, serving on various Quaker committees. He and his wife, Seren, are wardens of a seventeenth-century Cotswold meeting house, where they live with their daughter, Hannah.
