Join Meimei, a young panda, on a heroine's epic journey, starting from Western China. Called into a role as a reluctant leader, she transforms into a mature panda as helpers and enemies create a story with a dramatic ending. Be prepared for an emotional experience involving family, friends, and faith. "A remarkable work from a young author." - Chip Whitaker Sample text provided to the Lexile analyzer produced a Lexile score of 830. This converts to a 5.2 grade-level for reading skill (e.g. two months into 5th grade). Note that the author had just completed 4th grade when she published the book! The book is composed in American English with an accessible style at a 5th-grade reading level. The setting has global appeal; who doesn't like a new panda story? Young readers and their parents will enjoy the dramatic turns of the narrative, the internal self-talk of the heroine, the plot, and several layers of meaning. The story is original yet appeals to the timeless, cross-cultural line of a hero's journey, written by a young author for the benefit of young readers.

About the Author
L. M. Whitaker is a young girl with big dreams. She loves to draw, design, write, play, and much more. She began writing around the age of 7 but unfortunately had two flops before releasing "Faith: A Panda's Story" to the public. Every year she gives her grandparents a homemade 'one of a kind' book to hold in their library. The one she gave this year included full illustrations and typed words about a fish named Finn. She never wants to publish those books because they are purposely made for her grandparents, and she wants them only to have them. L. M. Whitaker hopes to write more books, but after this book, she'll probably write a simple picture book. L. M. Whitaker also does other things in her spare time such as arts, music, and sports. She plays violin, piano, tin whistle and also sings in a choir. She loves softball, golf, tennis, swimming, horseback riding, and more. She loves to act, and she sings made-up songs every day around her house. She lives in North Carolina, with her family and her spotted dog, Dottie.
