Synopsis

Ricarda Huch (1864-1947), sie schrieb auch unter den Pseudonym Richard Hugo, war eine deutsche Dichterin, Philosophin und Historikerin. Sie studierte in der Schweiz Geschichte und Philosophie. In der Zeit zwischen 1898 und 1900 erarbeitete sie als erste die Geschichte der italienischen Einigung Risorgimento. 1931 erhielt Ricarda Huch den Goethepreis der Stadt Frankfurt. Der erste, 1934 erschienene Band ihrer Deutschen Geschichte, die das Regime als implizite Kritik verstand, wurde jedoch von der offiziellen Literaturkritik verrissen. Der zweite Band konnte 1937 nur unter grosen Schwierigkeiten, der dritte und letzte, 1941 fertiggestellte Band �berhaupt nicht mehr erscheinen. Die Zeit von 1935 bis 1947 war gekennzeichnet von zahlreichen Kontakten zu Gegnern des nationalsozialistischen Regimes. Weitere Werke der Autorin sind u. a.: Erinnerungen von Ludolf Ursleu dem J�ngeren (1893), Der Mondreigen von Schlaraffis (1896), Bl�tezeit der Romantik (1899), Gottfried Keller (1904) und Der Fall Deruga (1917).
