A Fall from a Lofty Position

After the death of her benefactor, Carlotta realizes life under the new trustee won't look the same. To ensure her own comfort, Carlotta takes matters into her own hands.

Carlotta is used to a certain level of living. As the dependent of a rich man, she's wanted for nothing and enjoyed lazing her days away in comfort and class. In Victorian England, there's no better way to live life than how Carlotta passes her days.

However, the disappointing death of August Pendergast brings a stifling, unwelcome change to Carlotta's life. Her new trustee seems more interested in taking advantage of his position than of looking after her welfare.

Well... two can play that game.

When she realizes there's no changing his ways-and that her comfort isn't guaranteed under his care-Carlotta devises a plan for Christmas Eve that will reclaim her old life of luxury before it's too late.
