The famous Revolutionary War commander Major-General Mad Anthony Wayne organized and trained the new army, and then led it into the Ohio wilderness in 1794. His decisive victory led to the 1795 Treaty of Greeneville, which ended 20 years of conflict between the Americans and the Ohio Indians, and opened to American settlement the states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin.

About the Authors

John F. Winkler lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife of more than 40 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. He has written many works on the history of Roman, English, and American law. He also explores forgotten historical sites in Ohio and neighboring states.

Peter Dennis was inspired by contemporary magazines such as Look and Learn, leading him to study Illustration at Liverpool Art College. Peter has since contributed to hundreds of books, predominantly on historical subjects, including many Osprey titles. A keen wargamer and modelmaker, he is based in Nottinghamshire, UK.
