Faller

faller, the debut poetry collection by Jules Delorme, is a deeply moving work that resonates with tenderness, clarity, and emotional truth. As a Mohawk First Nations writer, Delorme brings forward a voice that feels both intimate and transformative, offering readers a perspective that lingers long after the final page. His poems are shaped by memory, especially the profound bond he shared with his grandmother, someone whose unconditional love and quiet strength continue to echo through his words. She recognized in him a beauty and purpose that now emerges vividly in his storytelling. Through faller, Delorme invites us to reflect on our own beginnings: the places, people, and moments that shaped who we are. His writing gently carries us backward while grounding us in the present, reminding us not only of where we come from, but why we continue to stand, endure, and grow.

Jules Delorme is a Mohawk First Nations author who was born and grew up on the Akwasane Reserve just across the St. Lawrence River from Cornwall, Ontario. Of Mohawk and French heritage, being one of only three kids from the Reservation to attend the white public school, having Asperger's, Dyslexia, and a violent childhood, Jules wrote and told stories to stay alive. Writing was something he didn't share with the world until now. He spends most of his time wondering why he is not dead yet and trying to remember the traditional teachings of his Tóta and his childhood. And, of course, writing. Always writing.
