Synopsis

Nick Stavros was once the star of his Chicago junior ice hockey team, but it came at the price of pretending to be who his mom, brother, and teammates wanted instead of his true self. In LA for a college tour, he is stranded at a swanky bar with Sarah, a sunny bartender from Canada who shares his taste in movies. Nick hides his real name behind his fake ID but for the first time is able to be himself and shares his dream of being a movie director. Their attraction is instant, but the best part of their evening is their conversations. Nick has never believed in love at first sight but a kiss on the hood of her car just might change his mind. A phone call from his family tears him away before they exchange contact information, but he leaves one thing behind: his leather jacket.
Sarah Connor’s writer’s block evaporates after the tall stranger she’s been crushing on helped her with her screenplay. When her plane has an emergency landing in his city, she discovers his ID in the pocket of his jacket she can’t stop wearing. Taking a chance on love, she surprises him at his home, only to find his girlfriend at the door. Disillusioned, Sarah vows to forget her feelings for the handsome liar and focuses on the prestigious filmmaking competition she has been accepted into for the summer.
On the first day of the competition Sarah is happy to be part of Team Blue, until the team’s lead and the director of the movie is revealed: the liar she fell for. If she wants to win the screenwriter award, she has to act like her crush was just a passing fancy, call a truce, and give Nick a second chance . . . in the friend zone. As they work closely together, the friends-only arrangement is much harder to maintain when he behaves like a gentleman, fixes her car, brings her coffee, and puts her on his shoulders to watch the fireworks. Nick is technically her boss and Sarah can’t mess up this once-in-a-lifetime chance to get the career of her dreams, even if it crushes her heart.
