Most people know Antigua as a Caribbean island paradise in the West Indies popular with tourists. The island has a long and rich history associated firstly with Great Britain during the 17th and 18th centuries when it was the HQ of the Royal Navy's Leeward Island's fleet. This book portrays the history of Great George Fort, one of the Caribbean islands great fortresses, seen as the last refuge if the island was invaded. The fort strategically overlooks Falmouth Harbour and English Harbour which was home to the Royal Navy's fleet. Includes copies of historical maps with names of the cartographers and geographers associated with them.
