Hardcover. According to the McClintock and Strong Biblical Cyclopedia, Jesse Fonda (1786-1827) was an early Reformed (Dutch) minister. He graduated from Union College with honor in 1806 and was licensed to preach in 1809. His first settlement was at Nassau, from 1808 to 1813, followed by a period at the First Church of New Brunswick, N.J. He later moved to a large church at Montgomery, N.Y., where he served until his death. Fonda published several pamphlets upon subjects of current interest, and was the author of a valuable practical volume upon The Sacraments. This book is a collection of letters that Fonda wrote to his congregation, providing a detailed explanation of the sacraments, including baptism and the Lord's Supper, and their importance in the Christian faith. VERY SCARCE in the 1824 edition. 12mo. 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches, In contemporary black buckram with gilt lettering on spine. Slight foxing throughout; slight staining to edges of some of the pages.
