A Family Guide for Healthy and Beautiful Teeth

No book can take the place of a dentist. And no dentists take the place of good oral hygiene at home. The purpose of this book is to help you develop a good relationship with your dentist and understand your responsibility for good oral care. The book provides basic guidelines for effective home dental care and information about dental problems that may arise. While the book does not eliminate the need for professional dental help, it does provide a foundation for successful cooperation between you and your dentist to jointly care for your teeth and prevent problems, improving the health of your teeth and lowering your dental treatment costs. If you receive information that is in conflict with this book, first see your dental care professional, who will take your specific needs into consideration. His or her advice may prove to be the best. Likewise, if any home dental treatment fails to provide a good result within a reasonable time, you should consult a dental care professional. The author cannot guarantee that every suggestion will work for every person s situation, nor will the author or publisher accept responsibility for any problems that may develop by incorrectly following the book's guidelines. This book is a useful guide, but your judgment and common sense are also important. I hope it is a book you will use time and again as a handbook for your lifetime of dental care. Ultimately, only you have the power to keep your teeth healthy and beautiful.
