This book shows the way people are helping themselves through the crisis in Angola. It does not refer much to politics, nor does it speculate about war and peace; it begins by describing a day in the life of the Ricardo family living in a musseque, one of the shantytowns around Luanda. This day is the point of reference for five short essays on the economy, gender, development, war, democracy and civil society in Angola.
