Famous Problems Of Elementary Geometry: The Duplication Of The Cube, The Trisection Of An Angle, The Quadrature Of The Circle

Famous Problems of Elementary Geometry: The Duplication of the Cube, The Trisection of an Angle, The Quadrature of the Circle is a book written by Felix Klein. This book explores three famous problems in elementary geometry that have fascinated mathematicians for centuries. The first problem is the duplication of the cube, which involves constructing a cube with twice the volume of a given cube using only a straightedge and compass. The second problem is the trisection of an angle, which involves dividing any angle into three equal parts using only a straightedge and compass. The third problem is the quadrature of the circle, which involves constructing a square with the same area as a given circle using only a straightedge and compass. Klein provides historical background and mathematical analysis of each problem, as well as various attempts and solutions proposed by mathematicians throughout history. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and mathematics of these famous problems. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
