Fancy Action Now : The Art of Team Macho

Magic Pony is pleased to present a new book with Canadian art collective Team Macho. Fancy Action Now documents the prolific works of Team Macho over the past three years. Team Macho express a unique attitude toward collaboration, a highly competitive spirit where the very nature of their alliance revolves around thwarting and subverting each other's contributions.

With a penchant for humble, unconventional materials like dollar-store watercolours and thrift-shop frames, Team Macho`s work conveys a decidedly unorthodox and individual approach. Exploring several key elements in their artistic process - camaraderie, geeky bravado, the creation of a personal culture laden with absurdity, inside jokes, sabotage, fluorescence, raquetry, and most importantly, fanciness, Fancy Action Now unleashes Team Macho`s true pansy awesomeness.

Introduction by Paul Dallas, Dean of Illustration, Ontario College of Art & Design and artists interview with Gary Taxali, award-winning illustrator.

8.5 x 11. 140 pages. Full colour. Over 200 illustrations.

Magic Pony is a gallery, studio and retail space located in the Queen West Art District in Toronto, Canada. We are dedicated to expanding the traditional notions of fine art and design by presenting work that blurs the boundaries between art, commerce and creative living. We look for products with a sense of humour, innate style and creativity that hasn't been cornered.

Magic Pony collaborates with multi-disciplinary artists to create unique exhibits and products. Designer toys, apparel, printed matter, plush and multiples are showcased alongside more traditional forms of artwork giving a unique perspective into an artist`s complete body of work.
