Fancy Nancy: Jojo And The Magic Trick

Fancy Nancy’s little sister, JoJo, stars in her My First I Can Read debut!

From bestselling author-illustrator team Jane O’Connor and Robin Preiss Glasser comes JoJo, Fancy Nancy’s little sister. JoJo wants to do magic. She has both her magic wand and her magic cape ready to go. But how can she make flowers appear? Doing magic may not be as easy as she thought!

Beginning readers will be delighted by JoJo’s can-do attitude in this My First I Can Read adventure—the perfect stepping stone to the Level 1 Fancy Nancy readers.

What makes this the perfect first book for your new reader?

• Sibling Relationships: Join Fancy Nancy’s enthusiastic little sister, JoJo, as she tries to prove she’s big enough to do magic, too.
• Imagination and Play: With a stick for a wand and a towel for a cape, JoJo shows that the best toys are the ones you invent yourself.
• Persistence for Kids: When her trick to make flowers appear doesn’t work, JoJo doesn’t give up—she just tries new magic words!
• Perfect for New Readers: Simple language, word repetition, and charming art make this an ideal first reading experience for children eager to read on their own.

Jane O’Connor was born and raised in the fabulous metropolis of New York City. That’s where she still lives with her husband, Jim, although both their grown sons did something unfathomable (that means impossible to understand). They moved to the West Coast! Besides writing the Fancy Nancy series and other books for children, Jane spent her whole career as an editor at major publishing houses. Recently retired, she finds herself with something she never had before—free time to do whatever she pleases.

Robin Preiss Glasser has illustrated many acclaimed picture books, including the bestselling Fancy Nancy series, Lambslide, Escape Goat, and Grand Jeté and Me: A Christmas Holiday Book for Kids. She won the Children’s Choice Award for Best Illustrator of the Year for Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet. Robin actually wore tiaras and tutus when she danced with the Pennsylvania Ballet. Now she happily spends her days in jeans, drawing. Robin and her family live in Southern California.
