A sweeping drama amind the flames of the French Revolution, Farewell The Tranquil Mind begins in 1794 at Exeter Castle in Great Britain. "Delderfield writes with a gusto, combined with sheer narrative skill, that tops everyone's since Dickens." -- Boston Herald Traveler review.

From AudioFile
The story begins with David Treloar, twenty-something, chronicling his life in a French prison. David tells of his adventures immigrating from rural England to Paris where he finds a revolution in full swing. His romantic and political adventures eventually land him in jail for treason. English actor Christian Rodska reads like the pro he is, with a wide range of accents and intonations that come easily, but something is missing. Delderfield's stories may translate to good mini-series on PBS, but on the interstate this audio program is about as interesting as road signs. D.W.K. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
