Farm Echoes by F. Ratchford Starr, Echo Farm, Litchfield Connecticut. Illustrated. Orange Judd Company, New York, 1881, 110 pp, blue publisher’s cloth, 8 x 5.25”, 8vo. In fair condition. Moderate wear to extremities with heavy abrasions to spine and boards. Discoloration along edges and spine with modest soiling overall to surface of cloth. Gilt remains bright and clean. Front gutter tender. Free of markings or ownership. Internally good with light toning and minor instances of age stain. Some instances of finger soiling to the margins. Binding remains intact. Please see photos. An autobiographical account of Starr’s (1821-1889) journey to becoming a farmer at Echo Farm in Litchfield, Connecticut. He discusses learning to plow, his various farm animals, milk testing and his farm buildings and equipment.
