Bulletin No. 94 issued by the Bureau of Plant Industry, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Bureau's director was B. T. Galloway. This report is about farming practices for forage crops in Western Oregon and Western Washington for the purpose of feeding farm animals. The report was written after author Byron Hunter completed a three-year study in Western Oregon and Western Washington about forage plants in the region. Hunter adds that the report contains information that he obtained while living in the Pacific Northwest over the course of thirty years. He writes that much of his research is based on his investigations in the Willamette Valley and Puget Sound region. The report discusses different subjects including farming methods such as curing hay and sowing seeds and specific types of forage plants such as hay, red clover, Alsike clover, common vetch, pearl vetch, field peas, alfalfa, rye grasses, orchard grass, meadow fescue, velvet grass, Indian corn, thousand-headed kale, and root crops.
