The Farmer And The Fald

Farmer Bundon never dreamed of fancy.
His world was soil, season, and the slow turning of days. But when he chances upon a fald’s egg in the hedgerows — a dragon’s smaller, uglier cousin — fancy finds him all the same. He and his daughter, Tyr’Dalka, are drawn unwillingly into a quiet conflict, where his humble wisdom, her boundless honesty, and a cowardly fald must face the darker fires of mankind: avarice, pride, and wrath.

“But there’s no forcing the hearts of the unwilling, lest one lend their hands to conquest. And we’re no conquerors, Tyr. Just a farmer, and his daughter.”

So begins their reluctant journey — through brambles and briars, knights and knaves, ghosts and goblins — laying their hands to what ails they might mend, discovering that true adventures rarely resemble the stories.

A small, earthbound fantasy for readers who cherish the quiet depths of Hobb, the heart of Rothfuss, the craft of Sanderson — and, of course, the magic of Tolkien.
