A charming cookbook related to farmhouse cookery dating from the 1930s, complete with an unclipped dust wrapper. Containing recipes arranged by county, including bacon rolls, scones, singing hinnies, beer cake, pork pie, ox-tongue, pasty, raisin and lemon pie, rarebit and roast mackerel.Written by Mabel Edwards Webb, a suffragist, writer and cookery programme presenter active between the 1930s and 1950s. She penned many cookery works for the BBC in conjunction with her regular shows on Woman's Hour on the radio. Her other works include 'Economical Cookery', 'Invalid Cookery' and contributing to the Farmer's Weekly publication.With a hand-typed recipe for two jellies and one jam, dated from 1939, loosely inserted.Complete with an unclipped dust wrapper. In the publisher's original full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, generally smart; spine is a little discoloured, with wear to the head and tail. Dust wrapper has some loss to the head and a large chip to the front joint; spine is sunned and stained, but boards remain bright. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages have a few stains. Good.
