A sketch artist who draws enemies everywhere he goes raises hell for a reluctant travel companion.

Abe Brown searching Texas for family he was separated from during slavery, makes a deal with a super-quick artist for a share in a prize to help him get to Washington D.C. where he is wanted to design the 1876 silver dollar. But a straightforward journey becomes a peril-filled adventure when Abe finds he has made a deal with the travel companion from hell. Reminiscent of Thomas Berger's Little Big Man, Fastest Draw begins in Depression era Georgia with an old Abe recounting his adventure to a writer. Both a Tall-tale Western and a Southern Gothic the screenplay for Fastest Draw was recommended for the shortlist of the Dublin International film festival.

Born in Ireland in August 1971. Fastest Draw is Gary Power's first novel, set in the West and the Deep South it's an adventure with a Southern Gothic sensibility. Gary has lived and worked throughout the USA and Latin America. He now lives in Galway on Ireland's west coast.
