Father Grumble (First Steps in Music series)

The hilarious, classic folksong about domestic rivalry is brought to life in this vibrantly illustrated picture book. Father Grumble believes he is more capable at performing household chores than his wife is. She agrees to go into the field to plow if he does her work at home and in the farmyard. Father Grumble encounters so many domestic challenges that he must confess it is more difficult to run a household than to plow a field. Based on the 15th-century "Ballad of a Tyrannical Husband," this delightful picture book includes a link to the downloadable song, "Father Grumble."

John M. Feierabend is the author of The Crabfish, Frog in the Meadow, My Aunt Came Back, Ride Away on Your Horses, Round and Round the Garden, and There Was a Man and He Was Mad. He is a professor of music education at the Hartt School of the University of Hartford in Connecticut. Erik Plude is an illustrator whose work has been recognized in numerous competitions, including the Connecticut Art Directors' Annual Awards Show and the Yale New Haven Paint & Clay Club competition. They both live in Hartford, Connecticut.
