The connectivity of fathers and sons is one of life’s most important relationships. "Fathers And Sons Together" invites dads and other male mentors on a spiritual journey with their sons to discover what God has to say about growing up and becoming a real man. One father comments…“Grace, love and wisdom emanate from the text. I am typically skeptical of such books and usually stop reading, but I kept reading this one, cover to cover. I think it’s a beautiful work, one that combines deep sensitivity to God, years of experience with men and boys and quite frankly a lot of just plain good judgment.” "Fathers And Sons Together" provides thoughtful questions at the end of each chapter for personal contemplation, parental strategy sessions or for use in small groups. The appendices also describe tested ways to build connectivity that work in today’s culture, while avoiding "cookie cutter" formats and encouraging active involvement of fathers and surrogate dads. Camaraderie between fathers and sons is a topic of notable interest to both men and women throughout America. And it should be: our “drop off” culture does not encourage dads to spend meaningful time discussing the important things in life with their sons, while at the same time building up a genuine brotherhood. The author’s journey of raising his son to adulthood in the context of a vibrant father-son fellowship illuminates the voyage for others. "Fathers and sons must connect at the heart level to assure that each of them will reach their potential. What John Kain and his collaborators have done in their helpful book Fathers And Sons Together is provide you with a reference point and some practical tools to strengthen your relationship with your son. John has collected, refined and tested some of the best ideas to inspire you in your fathering adventure. I encourage you to buy a copy of this book and reflect on his advice." —Ken R Canfield PhD., Director of the Center for the Family at Pepperdine University and Founder of the National Center for Fathering "For over a decade John Kain has been encouraging and supporting Christian men in the formation of father / son groups. John’s passion for helping dads to build quality relationships with their sons will both inspire and challenge men of all ages. I believe his book deserves our attention in a world where so many fathers often don’t know where to begin to deepen their bonds with one another." —David Bentall, executive life coach and author of “The Company You Keep” “Someone once said, ‘A man is not a man until his father tells him he is.’ The problem is that most men and boys don’t know how to be godly men. Fathers and Sons Together™ is a roadmap for any man to pursue his true calling. I especially appreciate the outline of meetings for a father-son group. This is life-changing material!” —Jim Burns, Ph.D., President of HomeWord, author of “Creating an Intimate Marriage” and “Confident Parenting” Author John Kain founded Fathers and Sons Together (FAST) in 1999 with several other dads (www.fathersons.org), and he has compiled numerous resources for parents that encourage healthy bonds between dads (or mentors) and their sons and daughters. He is currently working on the start-up of father/son networks and other intergenerational groups in communities throughout the United States.
