This the fourth volume of the Rhynchota in the Fauna of British India series deals with the Membracidae Cercopidae and Jassidae the last a most obscure family of Homoptera and the Appendix includes such species of the Pentatomidae Coreidae and Berytidae as have been added to the Indian fauna since the publication in 1902 of Vol. I of the Rhynchota. The arrangement and classification of the Indian Jassidae has been a most arduous task as so little pioneer work had been done heretofore in this obscure group. It is hoped however that the arrangement adopted thought it may here after be subjected to revision will fulfil the primary object to which all the volumes of the Fauna of British India series are directed viz. that of enabling students of natural history in India to recognize and identify the forms of animal life they meet with in the course of their collecting. 502 pp.
