Taking the form of the fictional graphic diary of ten-year-old self-identifying "monster" Karen Reyes, and set against the tumultuous political backdrop of late ’60s Chicago, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters has become a worldwide sensation since Book One announced Emil Ferris as one of fiction’s world-class storytellers in 2017 and 2024’s Book Two triumphantly concluded the epic graphic novel.

Influenced by B-movie horror, classical painting, and pulp monster magazine iconography, Monsters tells the story of Karen as she tries to solve the murder of her enigmatic upstairs neighbor, Anka Silverberg, a holocaust survivor. While the interconnected stories of those around her unfold, Karen struggles with the recent death of her mother while questioning her own sexuality and identity. When Karen's investigation takes us back to Anka's life in Nazi Germany, the personal, the political, the past, and the present collide.

Ferris’s exhilarating cast of characters come to life in this landmark work of graphic fiction that has captivated readers of all ages around the world with its story of love, friendship, and empowerment. And now, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters is available in one complete package for the first time!
