Fear and Loathing in the Mormon Church (Paperback)

Paperback. The Hapgood California mission was once the most successful mission in the Church of Latter-day Saints. Baptizing more converts than elders in most countries, the young men of the tiny Hapgood mission will go as far as it takes to gain power and glory. Elder Blood recounts tales of violence, sexual exploitation, insanity, and sadism among his fellow servants of the Mormon faith. Transcribed from over 200 hours of recorded audio accounts with minimal editing, Elder Blood's story reveals precise and peculiarly brutal methods used by the Priesthood to beat and pray the gay away. A world of exorcisms and waking nightmares, Hapgood is hiding deeper secrets than any faith can explain. Equally hilarious as it is shocking, "Fear and Loathing in the Mormon Church" is like a hyper-sexual "Handmaid's Tale" with all the spooky chic of a Seijun Suzuki film. The resulting outlaw mania is a story that could only come from the mind of Kevin Snow. This novel is the second in Snow's 16-part gonzo journalism series. Each novel in the series can be read either independently as a standalone book or in sequential order. With illustrations by John-Ross Boyce. Cover art by Dr. Alex Al-Chwikani.
