About this Item

8" x 10" gelatin silver photograph. Caption snipe affixed on verso, as well as Play Bureau rubberstamp on verso. Fine. Playwright Riggs and director Farmer are seated together huddled over the script for *Roadside*. Riggs was the first published Native American playwright, his play *Green Grow the Lilacs* became the basis for *Oklahoma*. Farmer was an actress and director who eventually ran afoul of the HUAAC Committee for being an "unfriendly witness", and later taught acting.
