Erwar ein geschickter Schilderer, und sein Werk enth�lt eine ironische, manchmal gar zynische Seite besonders in der Ausf�hrung seiner Portr�ts. In seinen Landschaften jedoch kommt auch die gro�e Sensibilit�t des K�nstlers zum Ausdruck. Die Grundlagen seiner Malerei werden besonders deutlich in seinen geordneten, erstarten Interieurs, von denen eine teilnahmslose Melancholie ausgeht.
