The Feminization of America

Argues that the feminist movement is causing positive changes in the American workplace, family, health care system, politics, religious institutions, language, and culture

Following a number of New Age authors, Lenz and Myerhoff envision the emergence of a new ``feminized'' America, a society made more human, less destructive, and more compassionate by women's nurturing and integrative influences in all walks of life. Theirs is an appealing and optimistic thesis, emphasizing gradual reform rather than revolutionary change. But it is also a view supported mostly by generalization. The authors admit that the changes they outline are being opposed by formidable forces on the right, but they offer no suggestions for people who would choose to support the new reality in ways other than passive hoping for better times.
