Joe Morey lives in Hayward, Wisconsin with his wife, Jill, and their four children, JJ, Blaze, Bianca and Bella. He was the editor of the weekly Lac Courte Oreilles/Ojibwe Times newspaper that served the small community of the Lac Courte Oreilles Indian Reservation in northern Wisconsin. He has served in this capacity off and on for 19 years. He is a member of the tribe and has spent his entire life in the area, graduating from Hayward High School in 1990. Fever Rising is Joe's first attempt at writing a book. His interest in conspiracy theories led him to the belief that the world is near the tipping point of runaway global warming from rising levels of dangerous methane and hydrogen sulfide gases. This was in 2012. For the next two years, he studied the phenomenon of escalating events that may be caused by these gases, which includes extreme weather events, earthquakes, volcanoes, sinkholes, sonic booms, strange sky noises, fireballs, mysterious explosions and fires, unexplained deaths, mass animal die-offs, disease outbreaks and other strange atmospheric events.
