About this title

Synopsis

A Few of Hamilton's Letters: Including His Description of the Great West Indian Hurricane of 1772 is a book that was published in 1903 and is written by Alexander Hamilton. The book contains a collection of letters written by Hamilton, one of the founding fathers of the United States, during his early years as a student at King's College in New York City. The letters provide a glimpse into Hamilton's life and thoughts during this time, covering topics such as his studies, his political views, and his personal relationships. However, the highlight of the book is Hamilton's detailed description of the Great West Indian Hurricane of 1772, which devastated the Caribbean and claimed thousands of lives. Hamilton's first-hand account of the hurricane is both vivid and harrowing, as he describes the destruction and chaos that ensued in its wake. The book also includes an introduction by William Abbatt, who provides historical context and background information on Hamilton's life and career. Overall, A Few of Hamilton's Letters is a fascinating read for anyone interested in early American history, as well as those interested in natural disasters and their impact on society. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
