About the Author

Cleveland P. Hickman, Jr. first visited the Galapagos Islands in 1974 and has been carrying out research on Galapagos marine life since 1989. In lives in Lexington, Virginia where he taught zoology and animal physiology and continues research at Washington & Lee University. He is the author of three textbooks in zoology including Integrated Principles of Zoology, in its 10th edition, and Biology of Animals, in its 7th edition. He received his PhD in comparative physiology from the University of British Columbia.
