Through the Fields of Mist (Paperback)

Paperback. "Through the Fields of Mist" begins not with a whimper, but with a horrifying premise: a highly contagious, mutated rabies virus, dubbed XIZ, escapes from a clandestine American laboratory. This isn't just any virus; it's a pathogen engineered and tested on primates, leading to a unique and terrifying evolution. The story speculates on the catastrophic consequences when one such enhanced ape, a product of these experiments, is inadvertently introduced into an animal habitat at a public zoo. The narrative quickly unravels into a journey through one of the most horrific periods in fictional human history, as the virus spreads with alarming speed and ferocity. It explores the immediate aftermath of such an outbreak-the breakdown of communication, the overwhelmed emergency services, and the chilling transformation of infected individuals into something far more dangerous than rabid animals. Beyond the visceral horror, the novel delves into the societal implications, depicting a world struggling to comprehend and combat an enemy that challenges the very definition of life and consciousness. As the characters navigate this nightmarish landscape, the story invites readers to reflect on the fragility of our modern world and the choices that could shape humanity's future in the face of an unimaginable biological threat.
