Fifty Fathoms is a collection of fifty demos for the first-year statistics course that use Fathom, the great dynamic statistics software from Key Curriculum Press. Topics run the gamut from first-week material such as the meaning of mean and median, though fitting and inference, to strange topics such as the bizarre Cauchy distribution and the consequences of heteroscedasticity.

The CD that comes with the book includes the demo files and a limited-use version of the software.

Tim Erickson is one of Fathom's designers, and the author of a number of books in mathematics education including Get It Together, United We Solve, and Data in Depth.
