Cocksparrow Books are a small on-line second hand book sellers which originated 25 years ago with a high street second-hand Book Shop in Wadhurst, East Sussex.
We specialise in non-fiction, collectible first editions of hardback fiction and first impression issues of un-usual paperbacks. We also carry a range of good condition ex-library books. We tend to avoid bestsellers and airport fiction.
We really want you to be pleased with your purchases and with our service. Our condition notes are extensive and detailed. They are designed to inform the purchaser of any wear or damage to the item. If the book is listed as ACCEPTABLE, confirmation of order will be requested before dispatch is made.
Items may be found for sale on other platforms and at different prices which are normally constrained by fixed postal rates on those sites.
All prices are listed net. Postage and packing is charged extra as itemised in our shipping terms.
Title of goods remains with the vendor until full payment is cleared.
Shipping terms
Orders normally ship within 2 working days. Items are sent to UK destinations by Royal Mail, MyHermes or other reputable carriers. They are normally sent by Tracked 48 service and carry insurance. A certificate of posting will be obtained and this is available to be viewed by the buyer. Shipping costs are based on books weighing up to 2 KG. (packed), the current Tracked 48 rate for a small packet. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know that an extra shipping payment is required.
Paperbacks and pamphlets etc. which can be sent as large letters will be priced to reflect the lower carriage charge.
The standard carriage charge is currently £3.75 based on a small packet plus an amount for packing materials. Our orders are packed in protective mailers, closed with ECO paper tape and they may possibly be additionally protected with bubble wrap or other plastic padding which can of course be re-used by the purchaser.
