The Final Draft

When struggling writer Kasey Kidd receives an eviction notice and a lifeline from her agent—a ghost-writing job for the celebrated Graves mystery series—she thinks she’s been saved. But the moment she steps into the crumbling Graves estate, the air is thick with secrets.
In the chaos of Marion Graves’s office, Kasey discovers a hidden manuscript marked For No One. Its chilling pages recount the night the Graves’ infant son died—what the world believed was SIDS may have been something far darker.
As Kasey works on the series, she begins to weave a fictionalised version of Marion’s confessions into her drafts, unsure if she’s exorcising demons or planting a bomb. Her growing bond with Willa, unlocks half-buried memories: screaming, a door closing, and her father standing over the crib.
The deeper Kasey digs, the more the past unravels—hidden tapes, altered manuscripts, and the mounting suspicion that Marion’s “accident” wasn’t accidental at all. When a USB surfaces with the unedited manuscript and a damning recording, the truth becomes inescapable: Terence Graves has been guarding more than a family legacy.
Offered a book deal for her memoir, Kasey pens The Final Draft, a tribute to “the woman who never stopped protecting the truth.” But as she reads before a packed audience, one question lingers—what story will she dare to tell next?
