Final Steps:Christian Maturity

What does it mean to follow Christ to the very end of the inward journey?

The best way to describe this book is to say that it is Volume II of Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ.

In Final Steps in Christian Maturity, Jeanne Guyon offers one of the most searching and profound explorations of the Christian interior life ever written. Drawn from her larger work Justifications, this classic presents a deeply reflective portrait of spiritual growth shaped by surrender, purification, and unwavering love for God.

Through vivid metaphors, biblical reflection, and practical spiritual insight, Guyon traces the believer's journey beyond outward religion into a deeper walk with Christ. She writes of seasons of joy and dryness, the testing of faith through suffering, and the gradual transformation of the will into harmony with God's will.

Readers will discover:

- A clear vision of Christian maturity grounded in surrender and love

- Insight into spiritual dryness, testing, and perseverance in faith

- Timeless teaching on prayer, humility, and abandonment to God

- Encouragement for believers walking through hardship or confusion

Guyon emphasizes that true growth often unfolds in hiddenness and difficulty, where faith deepens beyond feeling and rests in God alone.

Written with both depth and devotion, Final Steps in Christian Maturity remains a powerful guide for believers seeking a deeper relationship with Christ and a life wholly yielded to Him.

Jeanne Guyon was born in south-central France in the mid-1600s. Her writings and her ministry knew a brief period of popularity, making her a friend even of the wife of Louis XIV. She greatly influenced the life of Fenelon, one of the two most famous clergymen in France's history and she earned the wrath of the other, Bosuet. The conflict between these two giants over her teachings led to her disgrace in the king's court and then her imprisonment. Three hundred years later she is still one of the most influential people in the lives of those who seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
