About the Author
Dr. Howard has authored or co-authored three books and close to 100 articles on sport and leisure industry topics. His book with John Crompton, Financing Sport, is the first comprehensive textbook on the many traditional and innovative revenue acquisition methods available to sports organizations. He has served as a consultant to the NFL, several major league teams, and a number of intercollegiate athletic departments on facility development projects. Dr. Howard is the founding editor of the International Journal of Sport Finance and has served on the editorial boards of the Sport Marketing Quarterly and the Journal of Sport Management.
John L. Crompton holds the rank of University Distinguished Professor and is both a Regents Professor and a Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University. He received his basic training in England. His undergraduate work was in physical education and geography at Loughborough College. After teaching high school for a year, he attended the University of Illinois, where he completed a MS degree in Recreation and Park Administration in 1968. In 1970, he was awarded another MS degree from Loughborough University of Technology, majoring in Business Administration.
