Grade 3-5 The sun and its relationship to energy, its age and composition, and radioactivity and fusion are explored in a clear, concise, readable text. Questions that scientists might have asked are dispersed throughout the text, leading to what was discovered about that theory. Important terms are in italics, and the pronunciations of scientists' names appear in parentheses with their dates. Black-and-white drawings and diagrams throughout are generally good and help to clarify the text, although sometimes they do not appear on the same page as the text to which they refer. Lampton's Sun (Watts, 1982) covers some of the same information but deals more with the formation, composition, and movement of the sun and the importance to life on earth.
