Finding The Key: Surviving And Thriving To God's Glory

Choices. We make them everyday. What will I wear? What do I want for breakfast? Lunch? Dinner? Do I go out or stay home? Chocolate or no Chocolate? These choices probably will not have any lasting affect on your life, but some questions do; which college to attend, what job to prepare for, and who to date (later marry), are just a few.

When I was a child, there were no laws to protect children from abuse by their parents. The belief was that parents would never do anything to a child that wasn't for the child's welfare. But abuse did happen, to children and to wives...and people knew about it. Today, there are child abuse laws, and laws against spousal abuse, but sadly the abuse continues.

In addition, we live in a world that is blind to the abuse. And there are those who are aware of the problem but do nothing. The excuses are there: I wouldn't know what to do. I'm too busy. I don't want to get involved. It's not my business, and others.

Facing the indecency of all kinds of abuse and neglect, I lived with the pain and scars for years before I decided to seek help. Through counseling and listening to God, I found a way out of reliving my memories. Now, I have decided to write my story – both the good and the bad– including the decisions I have made along the way. Yes, I've made many decisions and not all of them were good, but God, in his grace, has led me to where I am today.

I am not a super woman, but I do serve an Amazing God who loved me before I was born and has protected me in miraculous ways over the years. He has carried me through both the pain and the healing. And I believe, has given me a purpose in life. He can do the same for others.

One time I was asked to speak to a group who wanted to hear from someone who had lived through abuse, not about someone. This book is granting that request. This is my story of the abuse and my path for healing. It is meant to encourage the abuse victims, and encourage others to find the time and the desire to help those who are living through abuse now,
