Finding Peace in the Promised Land (Paperback)

“A must-read for anyone who wants to understand the Arab-Israel conflict and the path for peace and coexistence.” – Khaled Abu Toameh, noted Muslim Arab Israeli journalist

A bold, hopeful, and deeply sensible roadmap for resolving one of the world’s most enduring conflicts, Finding Peace in the Promised Land is powerful, accessible, and persuasive. Grounded in Islamic, Jewish, Christian and universal values, it is an essential guide for policymakers, educators, religious leaders, and all who refuse to give up on the belief that peace is achievable—and necessary.

Drawing on decades of personal experience, regional insight, historical analysis and moral clarity, Aryeh Green identifies five transformative principles – Humility, Acceptance, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Purpose – which can shift mindsets and open the door to genuine reconciliation between Arabs and Israelis. Rather than rehashing political formulas, Green focuses on the roots of hatred and division, showing how individuals, communities and nations can move from resentment to responsibility and from violence to vision. In a region often portrayed as hopeless, this book illuminates a path where peace is not just a diplomatic aspiration but a moral and spiritual, concrete possibility.

"In Finding Peace in the Promised Land Aryeh Green bravely strives to succeed where countless others have failed by seeking to end the Middle East conflict. His formula is unique and his ideas fresh. For all those passionate about the search for Middle East peace, Green offers a new and compelling perspective.” – Michael Oren, former Israeli deputy minister and ambassador to the United States

“Aryeh Green proposes five ‘hard, practical’ steps to end the ‘Palestinian-Israeli’ conflict. He offers these not as immediate solutions but ‘as the first steps on a long hike [that] will make the destination possible.’ I personally hold to a tougher approach but hope he is right; his contribution to the public discussion and policy debate is both timely and important.” – Daniel Pipes, Middle East Forum

“While I may not agree with some of his narratives, arguments, and perspectives, I applaud Aryeh Green's efforts to bring together the disparate elements of religion, politics, history, philosophy, and logic in service of the essential cause of peace and of our shared goals of coexistence and reconciliation. Our differences highlight the gap between the three narratives – the Israeli, the Palestinian, and the peacebuilders’ narrative. We do not have to agree with each other, but we should avoid the three negative Ds when promoting each narrative: Demonization, Delegitimization, and Denunciation. This way, the three narratives would contribute positively to public debate and policymaking in the realm of moderation and peacebuilding. I see these differences as a vital part of our ongoing interfaith dialogue to bring a genuine, lasting peace to our region.” – Professor Mohammed S. Dajani Daoudi, founder of the Wasatia moderate Islamic movement in Palestine committed to the advancement of peace and humanity

“These days, it's far too easy to despair. Fortunately, Aryeh Green is too optimistic, too energetic, and too wise to succumb. Juggling between the philosophical, the theological, and the pragmatic, he makes the convincing case that the path to peace is through the mosque and the synagogue - the power of our shared Abrahamic faiths. Most surprisingly, this compelling book does an impressive job of both wielding sources and finding contemporaries who do just that.” – Professor Gil Troy, author, The Reagan Revolution, Moynihan’s Moment, Never Alone, To Resist the Academic Intifada, and The Zionist Ideas
