Women in the United States control more than $10.9 trillion in assets. That number is estimated to triple by 2030. In 2019, there were eleven self-made female billionaires worldwide. Just one year later, there were one hundred. Across countless corners of society, women are embracing a new role in which staid stereotypes and traditional roles no longer apply.

Yet, in the exclusive enclave of ultra-high net worth families, the roles of women remain hindered by longstanding conventions and complex intergenerational dynamics. These traditions, combined with lingering societal inequalities, have created a complicated path forward for women of wealth today.
