The perspective and the experiences of the Turks in the Federal Republic of Germany is the focus of Finding a Voice, which considers the perception and reception of their works by the native German population. The book examines not only the arrival of this literature, but the variety of the Turkish writers' works, as well as the marketing and demand for the literature, its intent, and its place in the modern German literary scene.

The Author: Marilya Veteto-Conrad, who received her Ph.D. from The University of Texas, Austin in 1990, is an assistant professor of German at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. Her areas of specialization are twentieth-century German literature and foreign language pedagogy. She has published on the topic of utilizing minority literature in the classroom in Die Unterrichtspraxis in the fall of 1992. Research for this book was conducted in Berlin while Dr. Veteto-Conrad was a DAAD scholarship recipient in 1987-88. Since then she has continued research via grants from NAU, and has lectured extensively at national conferences on the status of minority writers in Germany.
