Finding Your Way . . . In the Fog of Life (Hardback or Cased Book)

You think that you've made some questionable life decisions? You're in good company.

In Finding Your Way . . . in the Fog of Life, William M. Scovell presents a lively collection of short, fictional tales that shine a light on the humor, mystery, and irony of everyday experiences. From porches and college dorm rooms to garages or a raging Caribbean Sea, the stories capture the rhythms of small-town Americana through the eyes of a witty satirical narrator who can't help but find comedy in life's complications.

Meet Tucker, still wandering Manhattan in search of Luigi's Pizza. Cross paths with Chester and his too-good-to-be-true pony, Fancy Feet. Find out if Bucky's "hunting accident" really occurred at all - and if the rumors are true that his wife, Lilly, pocketed the insurance money and is now sipping cocktails on a tropical island with husband number three. Hold tight as Colt and Travis set sail on their Tahiti escapade. Each character is flawed, familiar, and unforgettable, caught in the adventures or misadventures that are equal parts heartfelt and hilarious.

By turns that are nostalgic, reflective and mischievously sharp, this collection offers "airportsize" reads perfect for slipping into a busy day. Each story is a reminder that humor is what keeps us steady in the fog of life, delivering warmth, wit and a wink at the truth.

William M. Scovell has spent a lifetime collecting stories. A retired chemistry and biochemistry professor, he is the author of four study guides in the sciences as well as the short story collection You Can't Make This Stuff Up (FriesenPress, 2021). Finding Your Way . . . In the Fog of Life is his second fictional work, a collection of stories rooted in the humor and unpredictability of everyday life.

Bill makes his home in Bowling Green, Ohio. He dedicates this book to his late wife, Eleanor, with whom he shared sixty wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised four children: Sherry, a vascular surgeon at Harvard/Mass General Hospital; Bill, a pediatrician in Toledo, Ohio; Jeffrey, an executive with Progressive Insurance; and Christopher, a child psychiatrist in Connecticut. They are also the proud grandparents of Jack, Andrew, Connor, and Brynn.

When he's not writing, Bill enjoys walking, biking, golfing, and just about anything that gets him outdoors-boating, swimming, kayaking, and jet skiing among them. A lifelong sports fan and curious observer of human nature, he finds inspiration in family, faith, and the small moments that-with the right perspective-reveal the heart of a humorous story.
