Add to basketA smart copy of this thrilling novel from popular Victorian author H. Rider Haggard, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. The last in the trilogy on the Zulu Kingdom, including Marie and Child of Storm. Set against the background of the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, this novel follows the events leading up to the war and the death of Cetewayo. With popular character Allan Quartermain depicted as one of the few survivors of the Battle of Isandhlwana. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Dated from the "successful novels" on the dust wrapper. In the original yellow cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. The odd small closed tear with a 1.5" closed tear to the front panel. Light sunning to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting predominantly to the first and last few pages. Light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good.
