Dansbach use a variety of photos to illustrate lessons, allowing the student to “size up” the structure or conditions depicted and answer questions based on their observation of the photo. The format includes true and false, multiple choice, fill in the blank, and scenario questions. The Fireground Size-Up Study Guide includes 10-15 questions per chapter as well as a 100-question final examination.

About the Author

Paul T. Dansbach serves as Fire Official for the Bureau of Fire Safety, Borough of Rutherford (NJ), where he is responsible for the enforcement and administration of the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code. He has been a member of the Rutherford Fire Department for more than 25 years, and a part time fire instructor for the Bergen County Police and Fire Academy since 1983. Dansbach is a frequent presenter at FDIC, and serves as editorial advisor for Fire Engineering magazine.

Michael A. Terpak began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Singac Fire Co. in Little Falls, NJ. He later became an auxiliary firefighter with the City of Newark Fire Department in 1978, and a career firefighter in 1981 in Jersey City. In 1984, he took a short leave from Jersey City to become a firefighter with the City of New York, only to return to Jersey City where he currently is assigned as the Chief of the 2nd Battalion in the city�s Greenville section. Terpak is actively involved with a number of County Fire Academies throughout the state of New Jersey, and continues to teach and take as many classes as he can. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Safety Administration from New Jersey City University.
