A FIREPROOF BOX is the first English-language translation collection of poems important young Russian poet, novelist, and translator Gleb Shulpyakov, who was awarded the prestigious Triumph Prize for his poetry in 2001. As Evgeny Rein states in his introduction to the collection, Shulpyakov's poetry is that of one "who understands the value of existence, of the spiritual richness of existence which can descend upon any person."

Gleb Shulpyakov is a poet, essayist, and translator. He was born and lives in Moscow, and graduated with a degree in journalism from Moscow State University. He is the author of two collections of travel essays, several novels, and several collections of poetry. Two collections of his poems have been published in English translation by Canarium Books: LETTERS TO YAKUB (2014) and A FIREPROOF BOX (2011), which was a finalist for the Three Percent Best Translated Book Award.
