A very scarce collection of six speeches by the Archbishop Roger Vaughan, all delivered in Sydney in 1875 to 1876. Roger Vaughan was a Benedictine monk at Downside Abbey, who went on to become the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sydney in Australia. These speeches were delivered in St. Mary Pro-Cathedral in 1875, and were spoken with the help of only a few notes, proving Vaughan's ability with public speaking and religious prowess. Vaughan was passionate about speaking on the subject of education, as shown in the final speech in this volume, however his efforts to make any progress didn't effect the parliament. Vaughan had previously held a position as Rector of St John's College at the University of Sydney, and had a scandal when he came into conflict with the Freemasons, accusing them to trying to subvert religion and trying to take over the educational system.
