Reviews
PreSchool-Grade 1-This nicely balanced presentation includes 64 stories from the Old and New Testaments, gently bowdlerized, shortened, and simplified for young audiences. Creation, the Garden of Eden, Noah, Moses, and David are among the first 32, with selections from Isaiah concerning the coming Prince of Peace as a bridge to the second section. The remaining 32 include Jesus's infancy, some familiar parables and miracles, Holy Week events, Pentecost, and material about Peter and Paul. The book ends with Revelation's promise of joys to come. Although the narrative skips many details, the essence of each story is retained. Witty, cartoon-style illustrations in sunny shades, one or two to a page or across spreads, complement the lively, conversational writing. All the scriptural references are identified by chapter and verse, and an index of key personalities is included. The book reads well aloud.
