First Book of Chess

This book holds the distinction and is famous for being the first chess book Bobby Fischer ever read. As Bobby himself tells the story, when he was 6 years old, one day his sister Joan brought home a plastic chess set she had bought in the market and they learned how to play by reading the instructions on the box. Later, when Bobby had developed an interest in the game, Joan brought home a book appropriately entitled “First Book of Chess”. It was then a new book, just out. As they say, the rest is history. I will not guarantee that you will become the World Chess Champion if you read this book. I will not even double your money back if you do not become World Chess Champion. However, I will guarantee that you cannot go wrong if you start chess with this book.

The book that taught over a quarter of a million people how to play chess. Written jointly by the three-time U.S. Open Chess champion and chess columnist for the New York Times and Saturday Review with the former editor of Chess Review.
