Gr 5-8-- More than just a beginner's guide to the electronic keyboard, this book is filled with introductory information, both how to play the instrument and general facts about it. There are diagrams; musical exercises; and complete directions on fingering, rhythm, legato and staccato; and many other aspects of technique. Also included are tunes, classical music, duets, and Christmas carols to play. Unfortunately, the colorful cartoon figures that dot each page give the book a primary-grade look, while the content is geared to older children. There is a lot of material on each page, which at times appears cluttered, and some of the British terms are not defined.
